Here's the validation you're looking for

[–]Barry_Braakbal 56 Punkte57 Punkte  (8 Kinder)

I found 1200 albums on an old hard drive this week and am now enjoying them through Musicbee

[–]DuOrDie 9 Punkte10 Punkte  (6 Kinder)

Musicbee represent!

[–]clea786211 4 Punkte5 Punkte  (5 Kinder)

Wish there was an actual linux version, other music players don't come close at all, specially with that glorious file explorer with the tree view, I don't know why no other player uses it, I don't like having all my music in playlists, I like browsing and playing whatever comes to mind.

[–]FrozGate 4 Punkte5 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Facts. Most players on Linux are playlist based which suck. Musicbee would be a great thing to have on Linux.

[–]jumbojimbojamo 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

Setup Navidrome and then listen to it in a browser.

[–]TrayLaTrash 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Navidrome is great, I also use symphonium on my phone.

[–]Repulsive_Chard_3652 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Clementine works great in Linux and I've never had to use any playlists! The file explorer works great! :)

[–]sunshinwon 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

You can set up fooyin to have a library tree. Pretty straightforward to set up and you can have it look like musicbee, itunes, etc.

[–]SkinTightBoogiePI 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Is it any better than Foobar?

[–]franharrington 14 Punkte15 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Musicbee + Plexamp

all you need

[–]0rphanCrippl3r 11 Punkte12 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

I never stopped!

[–]mooripo 19 Punkte20 Punkte  (1 Kind)

Oh great! my friend used to laugh at me for using mp3 like I'm still in 2003, while it was 2023, I moved to youtube (revanced of course) and even then I regertted that many songs are randomly deleted; going back to .mp3 very soon

[–]Jcob210 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Yup I use 2003 PDA as music player and it plays all my MP3 M4A etc files just fine and works great till this day.

[–]SafelyHigh 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (2 Kinder)

[–]DetectiveGesicht 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Same, and Feishin on desktop.

[–]throw4away77 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Just found out ab that app finally swapped off of poweramp its so nice, lacking a couple features but it's pretty new afaik. Might swap to a vps + subsonic soon instead of syncthing between my pc and phone

[–]motorboat_mcgee 10 Punkte11 Punkte  (15 Kinder)

I just need a good way to download my playlists 🙃

[–]Deadfunk-Music 25 Punkte26 Punkte  (4 Kinder)

Spotiflac

[–]_blacknails 2 Punkte3 Punkte  (3 Kinder)

Is there any chance of a Spotify IP ban from using Spotiflac?

[–]Deadfunk-Music 17 Punkte18 Punkte  (2 Kinder)

No because it downloads from other sources (amazon music, quobuz)

It simply grabs your playlists from Spotify.

[–]otakugal15 6 Punkte7 Punkte  (1 Kind)

I tired to download songs through that, but it would.

Rate limited everytime.

I miss the other Spotify Downloader he had...

[–]archiekane 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Unfortunately, us Devs writing this stuff are hitting a lot of walls.

Sites do a lot of work to make sure we cannot just rinse a service. Even getting to a site with a headless app is hard now, as the likes of Cloudflare bring in regular new protections to stop it.

Anyway, MusicGrabber is still working and it's just a service you leave on in the background to do all the work while you go have fun.

[–]undertakerryu☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 6 Punkte7 Punkte  (5 Kinder)

Antra works pretty well in my experience. Not super fast but it gets it done

Use the desktop app though the browser gets laggy for large lists and can fail the download

[–]motorboat_mcgee 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (4 Kinder)

I've been trying antra, and it keeps downloading random indian songs instead of the correct songs lol, I let the dev know though so hopefully it'll be fixed sometime

[–]undertakerryu☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (3 Kinder)

That's wild lol been doing good for me so far wonder what would cause that

[–]motorboat_mcgee -1 Punkte0 Punkte  (2 Kinder)

I think it's one of the fallback sources, when using "auto", been testing manual source selection and it's been better, but who knows haha

[–]undertakerryu☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

[–]motorboat_mcgee 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

[–]wfriesen69 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Musicgrabber is really good. You can just download Spotify playlists.

[–]Clean-Occasion8980 45 Punkte46 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

ok

[–]Elsenior97 3 Punkte4 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Spotify isnt avalaiblable in my country without a vpn and internet is fckin expensive here, so I prefer to just download the mp3 and use aimp. I actually remember using MusicBee once because I like the way it sort the albums like a virtual CD image lol

Navidrome >

[–]couldliveinhope 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (1 Kind)

As of yesterday I've got Navidrome running in Docker on my NAS. Today was my first trial run streaming everything from Nautiline at work, on CarPlay, etc. I'm elated. The fire is lit under my ass to finally get the rest of my favorite music downloaded. I had stalled out around half way downloading ~2000 albums previously, but this is the motivation and the final step to get me entirely off streaming platforms. Hell yeah.

[–]undertakerryu☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Same Im just getting all my favorite artists then whatever extra songs left over in Spotify then I'll just self host and cancel my premium Spotify

[–]Glenuendo 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (2 Kinder)

[–]Friggin_Grease 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (1 Kind)

Once you get your playlists back that you've likely lost from Spotify it's amazing

[–]realddgamer 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

well, it doesnt lock features behind a subscription, thats for one

Also spotift dont have a lot of crust punk bands e.g. ekkaia, madame germen or Jungbluth (only one album). Great taste op btw

[–]cmdr_ragnarock_[S] 3 Punkte4 Punkte  (1 Kind)

Thank you my friend

[–]223-Remington 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Use slskd to grab stuff, plenty of "out there" shit to be had. Whatever is not kosher with streaming services is always on there lol

[–]S4N7R0 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

they also dont have a lot of obscure, niche, unknown and other artists, nor unreleased materials, demo tapes, wips, some albums of ur fav artists, because those artists havent, didnt want to or have no say in distributing those tracks. spotify is not at fault when it comes to this. use youtube or bandcamp for that stuff.

[–]_trouble_every_day_ 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

YES Ekkaia was favorite band in his school/my early 20s. Still in my top 5 and thanks for reminding me about madame Germen, haven't listened to them for 15 yrs.

[–]two_hours-of_power 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Yes you need to bounce between the Streamers, Bandcamp, Slsk to get the full range of music.

[–]ExtraRare0412 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

I remember using blackplayer ex on my old phone for YEARS

[–]Deathstalkr1⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

I have 2 iPods myself (160gb 6th gen and a 256gb 2nd gen mini). I like being in control of my music and my collection, I hate how my phone distracts me from listening to music in every way that it can, AND the fact that I have to buy a dongle to not use shitty Bluetooth headphones. I have almost 30k songs on my itunes library, over 32k on Plexamp, which the vast majority is in FLAC and ALAC.

[–]johndoe3471111 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Hell yes definitely have your own collection. Just had three days with no power. Did some reading, listed to the collection, and it wasn't so bad.

[–]223-Remington 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Attaboy, Jellyfin and Lidarr w/ slskd is the way to go. So far at like, 1tb or so of FLACs lol

[–]Sunamrots 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

BTW there is great FOSS music player for android if you need to listen local music on the phones memory called retro music player and its on f-droid

[–]TrueLurkStrong-Free 4 Punkte5 Punkte  (12 Kinder)

I'd counter with PowerAmp, best music player I've ever used. There's also a remote for MusicBee app.

[–]two_hours-of_power 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Musicolet all the way.

[–]mushy_friend☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (8 Kinder)

Not FOSS is it?

[–]TrueLurkStrong-Free 3 Punkte4 Punkte  (2 Kinder)

No but it has powerful customization, probably the best EQ on Android, you can edit metadata, and it has enough options and settings for you to tinker for a long while. I moved off of local media, because my music library is pretty big, and the stupid modern phones don't support SD cards anymore, but I still have my favourites on there. Nice customizable widget too.

[–]mushy_friend☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

I just downloaded and luckily it has Morphe patches for paid, looks sleek, the only feature I wish it had was to be able to see/rearrange the order of songs on shuffle. I use Pulsar and that has that feature

[–]TrueLurkStrong-Free 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

You can queue up songs in any order you want, but I know that's not what you're looking for. Especially if you have a big library, it would probably get annoying.

[–]Najterek 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (4 Kinder)

no FOSS and with paid options, but looks great with a lot of equalizer settings

[–]mushy_friend☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ -1 Punkte0 Punkte  (3 Kinder)

I've never used equaliser settings, what do they actually do

[–]Najterek 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (2 Kinder)

If youre not technical into music you shouldnt especially care. Equalizers just change sound outputs to your prefference like simplest example- louder/quieter bass (low tonnes) etc.

[–]mushy_friend☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

I see, thanks

[–]throw4away77 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

U can edit the frequencies so more high end more bass more mid end

U don't need to mess with it tbh

[–]GoblinLoveChildYarrr! -1 Punkte0 Punkte  (1 Kind)

poweramp is shit... it deliberately places the ads over the top of hte back or home button so you cant exit the app without first loading an ad.

[–]TrueLurkStrong-Free 2 Punkte3 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

You could always grab the pro version from an apk mod site. The other reply mentioned Morphe, so you could do that. I paid for pro many years ago, I think it was a dollar or two, but it was well worth it.

[–]mushy_friend☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

[–]Frankly__P 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

I made the same decision in 1996.
Only downloaded MP3s have graced my music collection since then.
When higher-bitrate MP3s or FLACs become available, I replace older releases.

My household budget respects this course of action.

[–]en7roop 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

Excuse me, but is there an alternative for music recommendations of Spotify? I couldn't care less for the app itself but finding new songs is something I can appreciate.

PS. Spotify is blocked in my country, but we have a similar service that I've been "training" for the past like 10 years. I've always wanted to switch off of it, but I want to keep finding new music.

[–]throw4away77 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Lastfm 100%

[–]throw4away77 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

Did this a couple years ago, redid my library like twice, still not super organized ill probably have to restart again but deemix is gone and I haven't been able to find a good replacement other than random sites like lucida which are super slow. Slsk obv as well but I'm not as much a fan of that and it's hard to find my music taste on there a lot of the time, and new stuff

[–]throw4away77 1 Punkt2 Punkte  (0 Kinder)

Current setup is musicbee on my pc Symfonium on my phone Syncthing to sync my phone and pc up (have an SD card which basically only has my library on it (60k+ tracks)) Nicotine+ is a nice slsk client if u haven't found it yet

That's awesome

[–]flylo_x 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

[–]apsims12 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

If you're switching to local, you might actually be interested in iBroadcast.

From their FAQ: "iBroadcast is not a subscription streaming service, like Spotify or Pandora. To use it, you must upload your own music to your library. Once uploaded, your music is stored safely on our servers and available wherever you are. You can play your collection on your terms, without worrying about streaming services losing their licensing deals, missing your favorite version of a song, or artists pulling their music. Once your music it is here, it stays!"

"The core service is always free with no ads and no storage limits. Premium members can access advanced features, such as higher playback quality, including lossless streaming, and the ability to download their library with updated metadata."

[–]Tranorekk9 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

Took you long enough.

Hey guys, have you stopped listening to music offline? WTF.

[–]NatSylv 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (1 Kind)

I've never understood the point of spotify premium other than to be a crash grab. Ever since I started listening to music on my phone, I decided that I'd probably be better off recording the system audio on my PC from Youtube and then exporting it the way I liked by adding feedback, reverb, pitch shifting, tempo changing, fade out, ect. on a music site like Bandlab. Whenever I find a song that I like and want to add to my playlist I just do it all over again

Who needs offline ads or downloads when I can curate my playlist the way I want it and just listen to it locally on Samsung Music (I have an android). My friends laugh at me whenever I bring it up but at the end of the day I don't have to deal with not being able to skip unlimitedly unless I pay £13 monthly

[–]FunCutlet67 0 Punkte1 Punkt  (0 Kinder)

It’s all about convenience. Not everyone wants to spend so much time tinkering; or really any time at all. I get it at a student discount so it’s about half the price, and I can literally just open the app and find whatever I want
